permissible by reason of fair use:
1) Transformative quality: I have literally changed the meaning of the artwork, in this case to create a commentary about the "cut and paste" copyright infringement that is running rampant.
2) Non-commercial use: while this argument alone does not constitute fair use, it does help to push it, legally, in that direction.
3) The amount of the image used: "Parodies, for example, may need to make extensive use of an original work to get the point across."
WaRniNG:
"Under the International Berne Convention, almost every privately created artistic work after April 1st, 1989 is automatically copyrighted and protected.
You should never take or copy pictures from other sources; all artworks are protected by default on an international scale."

In Progress: Table almost done

Artwork is done, for the most part. Now you can see that I am starting the lettering around the edges. I have outlined the letters, then I will paint them in.
I outlined everything with a Sharpie, but I realize I should have used one with a finer point. The regular point looks more clunky and obviously "felt-pen". Sigh. I also should not have blackened the bars on the beacons. (Nice alliteration, though.) I might repaint that bit.
I don’t really like that the achievement has a white background, but I can’t think of anything that would look better there at this point, so I guess I will leave it white.
I might add some shadowing here and there. Not sure yet.
Once I get the lettering done and any final touch-ups, I will varnish it.

My first attempt at using PhotoshopCS3 to color in a drawing. The biggest problem was that this was an old drawing, and I drew it on lined paper and I had to erase all of those lines, which was insane. I will draw on better paper from now on. Also, I need to fine tune that way that Illustrator traces the drawing, so keep my original artwork style intact. But I do think that this came out pretty good for my first try. What do you all think??
Olga Kalamkarova COLOUR WHEELS ARTIST
Olga Kalamkarova began her artistic life with an interest in photography. After an operation to remove a tumor resulted in quadriplegia, Olga shifted her interest to digital imaging, finding Adobe Photoshop to be a suitable artistic medium. Olga uses a device designed by the Tetra Society of North America and engineering students from UBC that lets her lift her hands, allowing her to use photographic details to create “a new and different world.” “Life is about inspiration,” says Olga, “I try to reflect that in my artwork.”

A while ago, I scanned in an old Natural History Book from 1888. Today, I made some Gimp brushes from these. Just in case you might ever need an old Ichtyosaurus
Since I don´t know how to convert these into Photoshop brushes, I uploaded the .png files here:

This is a bit of a work in progress, or at least the start of an idea for an image which riffs on the cheesy fantasy artwork of the 70s. I want to do much more work on this and I need to use layers to complete my image, but having recently moved to a Mac I don’t have photoshop yet. I have been using the beta version of Lightroom 3, and I have to say I really like it. I am shooting everything in RAW now as the whole import to Lightroom library, develop files without actually making changes then exporting as jpegs really makes sense to me; it is going to make a big difference to my workflow once I really get my head round it.
I have also been shooting a fair bit with the manual focus 300mm Tamron lens I bought cheap on eBay; this was shot with it. It’s not super easy to focus accurately but I’m getting better. Great for candids, provided your subject is relatively still, but also for different views of stuff you’d normally shoot ‘normal’ or wide.
